AHA BLS Online Blended format is nothing but a mix of Online plus offline modules together. It is called as HeartCode BLS.
How to do BLS online
Though we say online, it still needs about 1 hr offline testing. You will save a lot of time with this as you can schedule on your day of choice (Most of the locations will offer everyday Skill testing). Some might even offer early morning or late evening slots to help you out. You can find such slots on Medcourse website.
Let’s outline the steps via which this is done.
Step 1 – Purchase online module
First, you’ll need an access code to be purchased from AHA to access the reading material which also includes Online videos. You will be preparing for the AHA BLS online testing via these modules. The training centre can buy this for you and offer a combo price for Online module plus Skill test. if you buy online module by yourself, additional skill test fee needs to be paid to trainer directly. Step 2 – Finish online part
The AHA BLS Online module is designed to enable you to learn as per your comfort. It saves your journey as you finish a lesson or quiz on the way. You can stop and resume any number of times till you master it. The videos will explain the core concepts clearly. It will have subtitles to make you understand. You can rewind if you don’t understand something. Indian Languages are being worked upon (as per credible sources).
If you finish your online modules and clear the tests, you will get a partial certificate that says you have cleared the theory component.
Step 3 – Find a skill test location
Next you will have to find a training center near you (Check Medcourse.in for a list). Set up an appointment (about 1 hour) as per your convenience to finish your skill training and testing. On completion of skill test, your trainer will mark your entry on AHA Atlas dashboard as “Skill test Pass”. If you do not clear, you will be asked to visit again. So, prepare well and concentrate. Just paying the trainer is not enough to get certified.
Step 4 – Receive your certificate.
Once trainer marks it as “Skill test pass”, Your AHA Online BLS with offline Skill test certificate will be ready for you to download any time for next 2 years on your dashboard.
If taking ACLS or PALS
If you are opting for a combo, you can finish your skill test on the first day of ACLS or PALS. In the first 1-2 hours, the center will conduct your skill test, provided you have finished your online theory testing already. This enables you to save 1 day if opting for ACLS or PALS as they can be finished in 2 days. But mind you, you will still need to pass skill test. So, it’s better you finish BLS some day before you go for ACLS or PALS.
Indian training centers mandate BLS before taking ACLS or PALS.
