Introduction to PALS

The Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) guides you on how to handle life-threatening clinical scenarios in children. The course curriculum is updated by the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) every five years. This module is based on the most recent 2025 ILCOR guidelines of PALS. PALS providers should be experts in the Basic Life Support (BLS) for children/infants. PALS algorithms convey best practice guidance to deliver proper care in life-threatening emergencies.

PALS focuses on rapid recognition of pediatric emergencies, high-quality CPR, and team-based interventions to improve outcomes in cardiac arrest, shock, and respiratory failure. Key goals include early identification of deteriorating patients, effective airway management, and post-arrest stabilization.
