About Basic Life support and Pediatric advanced life support

The American heart association’s HeartCode Basic life support (BLS in short) Course reflects new science in the 2025 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care. This video-based, blended course teaches skills for application in both in-facility and prehospital settings. AHA shows a topic on video and tests you on the app. You need to clear the exam before coming to the class. The AHA’s PALS Course – 2025 Guidelines. This Instructor-led course uses a series of videos and simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation, and team dynamics. The goal of the PALS Course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes.

  • Recognition of patients who require immediate intervention
  • Recognition of cardiopulmonary arrest and starting CPR within 10 seconds
  • Apply team dynamics
  • Difference between respiratory distress and failure
  • Interventions for respiratory distress and failure
  • Difference between compensated and decompensated (hypotensive) shock
  • Early interventions for the treatment of shock
  • Difference between unstable and stable patients with arrhythmias
  • Clinical characteristics of instability in patients with arrhythmias
  • Post–cardiac arrest management

Eligibility

  • BLS: Any healthcare staff (For others, AHA India recommends FIrstaid CPR AED course)
  • PALS: Allopathic Healthcare Staff

Pre-course Tasks

  • Book a slot : Multiple schedules might be available on Medcourse website
  • Collect online course material : Official preparation materials will be given once you pay in full.
  • BLS online module : Complete the online part and come with completion certificate. It's not optional and you cannot join Skill session without it.
  • PALS Online precourse : PALS Precourse self assessment and Precourse work should be completed. Collect certificate. You will not be allowed for hands-on portion without it.

Course Day Preparation

  • Schedule : Choose a schedule for offline hands-on training and testing.
  • Be on time : Multiple candidates might be scheduling on same day. So, it'll go on with or without you. Late entries will not be allowed.
  • Get precourse certificates : Don't forget to bring proof of completion for the online preparation for both BLS and PALS.

BLS is a prerequisite for taking ACLS or PALS. Book both together if you don't have AHA BLS already.
